Roswell Sears Lander, founder of Shearman Concrete Pipe Company in North Little Rock, Ark., was born in Boston, Mass., on 19 Jan. 1882. He went to Arkansas in 1901, graduating fron the University of Arkansas with a degree in civil engineering, and was engaged in railroad construction before forming the Shearman Concrete Pipe Company in 1920.
